Next I saw the Station Guard, an I.P.C. in uniform, run into

the compound through the back gate. He did not have his

revolver in his hand. He had reached about the middle of the

compound when the other I.P.C., whom I had seen fire his rifle,

came in through the gate at a run. He fired one more shot

towards the passage by the Charge Room. The Station Guard ran

inside and switched on the alarm bell. I saw the murderer

enter the Station and turn up the inner stairs that lead to the

Sergeant's quarters. At that moment I.P.C.B.9 came into the

compound by the back gate holding his hands to his stomach. On reaching a point 5 or 6 feet from the Indian cook-house he collapsed on the ground. He rolled about on the ground and

groaned. Then I heard another shot fired inside the Station

from the direction of the top of the stairs. Then the murderer reappeared through the passage door on to the back 1st floor
